| Rosy Apple Childcare scooped the prestigious Medium Employer of the Year accolade at the glittering North West Apprenticeship Awards on Tuesday night.
Together with 23 North West finalists, Rosy Apple Childcare joined the cream of North West businesses at the event, which celebrated the achievements of apprentices and the contribution they make to their employers.
Held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, the awards were hosted by special guest ITN and ITV Granada presenter, Lucy Meacock.
Rosy Apple Childcare’s application was one of over 283 entries that were submitted from across the North West for the prestigious awards, with 23 finalists selected to compete across the eight categories in the regional heat of the awards.
Currently employing 16 apprentices, Rosy Apple Childcare works closely with Preston College to deliver industry specific training to employed apprentices.
Sharon Alexander, Managing Director of Rosy Apple Childcare commented: “Winning this award is a credit to our staff and illustrates our commitment to Apprenticeships and also our work to promote them to other businesses as a valuable recruitment option.
“We view our apprentices as our most valuable assets and the secret to our success. Through Apprenticeships we have benefited from increased productivity, improvements in the quality of work and employee satisfaction.
“We are currently looking into developing our own Apprenticeship training within our company and have lots of exciting ideas for this in the pipeline.”
The awards showcased the skills of North West apprentices as teams worked at the event to assist with the catering, provide the floral decorations and put together the entertainment.
Sue Price, Regional Director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the North West said: “I would like to congratulate Rosy Apple Childcare on their fantastic achievement in being named Medium Employer of the Year.
“The awards provide a great opportunity to reflect on, and celebrate, the outstanding achievements of apprentices and their employers over the past year and provide a chance to highlight Apprenticeships and their benefits to a wide audience.
“There have been some amazing stories of success in the region and some powerful examples of how Apprenticeships are bringing a range of benefits to both individuals who are looking to develop their careers and for employers looking to build a highly skilled workforce.
“I wish Rosy Apple Childcare the best of luck going forwards in the competition, they should be very proud of the success they have achieved. I hope they will continue to benefit from the skills, loyalty and enthusiasm that apprentices have brought to their business.”

National Apprenticeship Service (NAS)
The NAS launched in April 2009. Reporting to the Departments for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), the service will drive forward the Government’s ambition for Apprenticeships. The service aims to bring about a significant growth in the number of employers offering Apprenticeships.
The NAS takes total responsibility for the delivery of Apprenticeships which includes: Employer Services; Learner Services; and a web-based vacancy matching system. This online system enables individuals to search and apply for live vacancies. Additionally, employers and training providers can advertise their vacancies to a wide range of interested applicants.
The service has ultimate accountability for the national delivery of targets and co-ordination of the funding for Apprenticeship places. It seeks to overcome barriers to the growth of the programme, assuming responsibility for promoting Apprenticeships and their value to employers, learners and the country as a whole.
