North West Apprentice Employer of the Year Award for Preston’s Rosy Apple Childcare Date:30/06/2009 20:39:03
It’s celebrations all round as Rosy Apple Childcare is crowned the regional winner of the Learning and Skills Council’s 2009 Apprentice Employer of the Year Award. Delighted with this tremendous achievement, everyone is now looking forward to joining only the very best entrants from around the UK for the Oscar style national finals to be held on 16th July at Old Billingsgate, London. Now in their sixth year, the Apprentice Employer of the Year Awards have been designed to recognise and reward employers who are successfully using Apprenticeships to improve their business performance and tackle skills shortages. Organised by the Learning and Skills Council, awards are offered across different sizes of company and Rosy Apple Childcare is the North West winner of the award for medium sized companies. Committed to training through Apprenticeships, Rosy Apple Childcare Managing Director, Sharon Alexander is working with Lancashire Enterprise Business Partnership as a local ambassador for the scheme. Delighted to be the North West winner of this prestigious employer’s award, she says, “A dynamic approach to training is essential and Modern Apprenticeships are a crucial element of our training programme. Our Apprenticeships are definitely helping our day nurseries to prosper and we have long term plans for continued development through Apprenticeships. We currently employ 13 Modern Apprentices funded by the Learning and Skills Council, 11 in Child Care and 2 in Business Administration.” Ms Alexander adds, “We are able to offer young people access to employment at a very early stage in their careers and we support the new specialised diploma for 14 -19 year-olds. Our Apprentices train to NVQ level 2 and can then advance to NVQ level 3 and gain promotion within the company.”
