Little Achievers Nurseries has recently began a new charitable campaign supporting the LK Airport Nursery in the Gambia. The aim of the project is to help with the development of resources for the children and staff to use within their Gambia Nursery. LK Nursery receives children from the age of 30 months to age 7 years, but is sorely lacking in equipment and toys for the children to use. Indeed, their only prize possession at the outset of this project was a times table poster. The children at LK airport Nursery, have no access to what we consider basic resources, such as pencils and paper, even their building is not complete to learn in. We are currently collecting resources which we can send to Gambia and encouraging our children to write letters to their new friends. We will be encouraging our children to compare their lives to those of children who live in a far off land. This will be an enriching and fulfilling experience for all the children concerned. We have a series of fundraising events planned for all of the nurseries, over the next 12 months, including pyjama parties and teddy bear picnics. Our last fundraiser raised over £200, with lots of equipment also donated. We were able to send 2 parcels out to the LK Airport and have just received confirmation that our first parcel has arrived.
